Welcome
The first Aichi ITS Forum in November 2005 was an extremely successful and well-attended event. Held exactly one year after the 2004 ITS World Congress in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, this Forum not only commemorated the holding of the World Congress but also served to continue to promote the concepts of ‘Citizen Participation’ and ‘Hands-On Experience’ that were being pioneered at that time. In addition to hosting the 2004 ITS World Congress, Aichi Prefecture employed ITS technology in 2005 for both the ITS Forum and for the World Expo and earned itself a reputation as a true leader in the ITS field. One might even say that Aichi Prefecture and ITS go hand in hand.
We at the Aichi Prefecture ITS Council and The Mid-Japan Economist are proud to be presenting the Aichi ITS Forum Special Expo ‘ITS World in Aichi’, which will open on November 22. It is planned that the Expo will coincide with the 15th Nagoya Motor Show, thus making for an even more satisfying experience, and an event of which neither Tokyo nor Osaka, but only Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture can boast. We also hope that this event will become a permanent feature in Aichi Prefectures calendar of events.
This year we are collaborating with the non-profit organization ITS Japan, which has designated Aichi as the target area for its Environmental ITS Project. Further, thanks to JETRO, we are also in consultation with overseas ITS firms about the possibility of their participation.
The Aichi ITS Forum’s ‘ITS World in Aichi’ opens on November 22, 2007, and we sincerely hope that you will do us the honor of joining us.

Message from Our Special Partners
ITS is now in its second stage of development and has become a regular part of our daily lives. It is contributing more than ever to a society and lifestyle which is safer, more comfortable, and kinder to the environment. At ‘ITS World in Aichi’ visitors will have the opportunity to see ITS at work in our daily environment in the following three zones: the Safety and Safe Driving Zone, the Affluence and Environment Zone, and the Comfort and Convenience Zone. In addition, this year we have designated Aichi Prefecture as the target area for our ‘Environmental ITS Project’. For those of you involved in regional ITS projects in Japan, we believe that the Town Development Zone will be of particular interest, and we are confident that the exhibits on display there will be of benefit to you when you are deploying ITS technology in your own area.
ITS Japan (NPO)
We at JETRO work together with Japanese and overseas firms to assist them in conducting business together. This year we have invited several firms that are involved in the US in the development of ITS technologies, such as ASV (Advanced Safety Vehicles) and telematics, to join us at the ‘ITS World in Aichi’. We hope to assist local Japanese firms and research institutes to exchange ideas and network with overseas companies, and thereby promote the growth of ITS technology both inside and outside Japan.
